Choose your food wisely while you’re pregnant and you can help your baby’s health and development.

Your baby is as big as 2 apples.  You've made it!  You're now approaching your 5th month.  Your baby measures 13cm from crown to rump, and 20 cm from crown to heel.  It weighs about 240g, almost the weight of a pack of butter.  The diameter of the head will reach 5cm.

Making sure your baby is active is important for his health, not only now but later in life too. Tummy time is a big part of that, as it helps develop important muscles and motor skills that he’ll need to use when he gets bigger and starts doing things like crawling and rolling over. And, it’s just a lovely way to spend time with your new baby!

If you were of a healthy weight pre-pregnancy, you should gain around 11-15kg over the course of your pregnancy.  At this stage you should be gaining just under half a kilo per week.

Your baby is about the length of an ear of corn.  The growth of your baby continues at the same rate for its height and continues to accelerate in terms of weight gain.  It measures 17cm from crown to rump, and 26 cm from crown to heel.  It weighs 500g, which is the weight of two packs of butter!
